SUMMARY
To study the effect of vero cells on preimplantation mouse embryos two groups of experiment were carried out. In experiment 1, pronuclear stage mouse embryos were co-cultured with Vero cells in RPMI medium and were examined under microscope for 4 days with 24h interval. The results showed co-cultured group developed better compared to control (87% to 80%, P<0.05) although, the rate of development to blastocyst was relatively similar (8% to 7%).In experiment 2 two-cell mouse embryos were co-cultured with Vero cells. 72h. after cultivation more co-cultured embryos developed to expanded blastocysts and moroulae (80% to 75%, P<0.05) in addition, more embryos in co-cultured group hatched (48% to 27%, P<0.001).
We conclude that although the Vero cell is able to over come the two-cell block but supports the embryos which passed this block invivo.
