Pre-print Policy

 | Post date: 2026/02/24 |

The scientific journal "Research in Medicine" (Pezhoohesh dar Pezeshki) recognizes the value of preprint servers in accelerating the dissemination of scientific findings. This policy explicitly defines our stance on the prior deposition of manuscripts on preprint servers.
Definition of a Preprint
A preprint is a complete draft of a research manuscript that an author shares on a public server before it has been peer-reviewed and accepted for publication in a journal.
Journal Stance on Preprints
"Research in Medicine" welcomes submissions that have been previously posted on preprint servers. The posting of a manuscript on a preprint server is not considered prior publication and does not compromise consideration for publication in this journal.
Author Obligations
  • Disclose at Submission: Authors must inform the editorial office of the preprint at the time of submission, provide the DOI or direct URL, and confirm that the manuscript has not been previously published in another journal.
  • Cite upon Publication: If accepted, authors must update the preprint record with a citation to the final published article, including full journal reference, DOI, and a link to the Version of Record on the "Research in Medicine" website. A statement such as "This manuscript has been published in Research in Medicine [full citation]" is required.
Media Embargo
Publishing a preprint does not violate "Research in Medicine's" media embargo policy. However, authors should be aware that presenting findings at conferences or discussing them with the media may accelerate public discourse prior to peer review.
Alignment with International Guidelines
This policy aligns with the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding preprints.
