SUMMARY
The purpose of this study is to compare the level of zinc, copper and the ratio of zinc to copper in serum of patients who are suffering from acute myocardial infarction with healthy men. In 10 ml blood samples from 45 men on the second day of myocardial infarction and 51 healthy men volunteers matched for age, serum zinc, copper, cholesterol and triglycerides were measured. Zinc and copper were analyzed by varian atomic absorption spectrophotometer model AA-175, Cholesterol was determined by a rapid method and triglycerides by a special kit.
Results of the survey are as follows:
Mean serum zinc in the subjects was lower than 30 % of that controls (P<0.001).
Mean serum copper in the subjects was greater than 54% of that controls (P<0.001).
Mean zinc/copper ratio in the subjects was significantly lower than of that controls.
We suggest that the diet of patients after myocardial infarction was regulated base on changes in zinc and copper, especially by attention to the role of zinc in rebuilding of tissue of myocarde.

<Abstract>
SUMMARY
This study was conducted to shed light on to the factors contributing to fertilizing ability of the caput epididymal spermatozoa. In this content, it should be stated that seminal plasma am! epididymal fluid of most mammalians contains inhibitory factors connected to spermatozoa surface. To do this, components of different regions of mouse epididymis centrifuged and a given volume of supernatants was added to capacitated (120 min preincubated) sperm. The eggs obtained from mature mice were inseminated in the presence ,1f the supernatants. The eggs were studied after 5 to 6 hour of incubation to observe the presence of pronuclei. Of the inseminated eggs (257)in the presence of caput supernatants only 25.49% (64) did not fertilize while the rate for the eggs inseminated in the presence of corpus (276) and cauda (362) ones, increased to 88.51 %(244) and 95.85%(347), respectively.
On the basis of the results it could be concluded that proportion of immature spermatozoa in the caput epididymal region is considerably greater than those of the other two.
Additionally, the smaller capability of cauda epididymal spermatozoa to fertilize eggs, after vasectomy, could be refered to destruction of inhibitory factors, occurance of acrosome reaction due to long stop in the region.

SUMMARY
During 2 years, 212 patients with PID and 160 women with no sign of PIO (as control group) were selected for the detection of aerobic an<l anaerobic bacteria and possible cause of the disease.
Specimens from 58 patients and 60 controls were taken by laparoscopy and laparotomy, 154 patients and 100 controls by swabs from endocervical canal.
From laparoscopy and laparotomy group(58) 9
specimens were sterile and 3 were only anaerobes. 6 mixed aerobes and anaerobes and 40 specimenshad only aerobes bacteria.
It was interesting that from 18 specimens one isolated more than one bacteria, from 60 controls with similar specimens no bacteria were isolated.
From 154 patients (endocervical specimens) 12 specimens were strile, 13 of isolates were only anaerobes, 23 were mixed aerobes aml anaerobes and 106 were only aerobes bacteria. Also in this study we isolated 97(62 % ) mixed bacteria.

SUMMARY
In a cross-sectional survey, the nutritionql status [on the basis of weight(Wt), height(Ht), body mass index(BMI) and mid-arm circumferences (MAC)] of 45 I women attending the health centers in Zabol city was investigated. The results showed that 14.4% of women were underweight and 2.2% stunted. On the basis of BMI 36.4% of women had wasting and 18.8% overweight. Also, 31.8% had amid-arm circumference: under fifth the percentile. The relationships between the above anthropometric measurments and a few socioeconomic factors, as well as the fertility history, were determind. In the stepwise multiple regression analysis, the relations between Wt and number of pregnancies (P<0.001) and occupation (P<0.02) and MAC and age (P<0.001), and occupation (P < 0.04), were positive and statistically significant. The results of this study showed that the most important problem in the women is present malnutrition.

<Abstract>
SUMMARY
Since at oocyte retrieval for in vitro fertilization there is some FF become incorporate to egg, we decided to investigate the effect of this fluid on preimplantation embryo development in vitro. FF was obtained at the time of oocyte retrieval for IVF, centrifuged and then either inactivated by heat and stored at 4°c or without inactivation stored at-20°c until used. Late 2-cell embryos were collected from superovulated 8-weeks-old random-bred Swiss mice 48 after injection of hCG. Rates of development were compared between embryos cultured in Ham's F1O supplemented with 10% human albuminar serum (control group), heat-inactivated pure FF(HF1OO), Ham's FIO supplemented with 50%, 25% and 10% heat-inactivated FF(HF50, HF25, HF1O), non heatinactivated pure FF(NF1OO) and Ham's PIO supplemented with 10% non heat-inactivated FF(NF1O). Between 150 to 500 embryos wert" cultured in each of these media. The percentages of embryos which reached blastocyst in HF1OO, HF50, HF25, HF1O and Ham's at 48h of culture were 58.6, 48.0, 37.6, 40.3 and 28.6 respectively which those in HF1OO and HF50 were significantly greater than those the others (P<0.05). After 72h of culture, these percentages were 86.1, 77.2, 75.0, 70.3 and 71 .6 respectively. In comparison only blastocystreached embryos in HF1OO was significantly greater than those in the rest (P<0.05). In contrast to HFs, almost all embryos which cultured in NF1OO degenerated and from those cultured in NF1O only 44.1 % reached blastocyst at 72hr of culture which was significantly lower than those in the other experimental groups (P<0.05). These results suggest that human heat-inactivated FF could support the
mouse embryo development in vitro and accecerates and improves their growth in comparison with Ham's F1O+ serum while non beat-inactivated fluid retards embryo development.

<Abstract>
SUMMARY
Hepatitis B Virus is one of the most important and common infections agent in the world and is prohably endemic in IRAN.
In our study the 12 years prevalance (April 1981-December 1993) HBsAg and VDRL positive cases and their relationship with some epidemiologic factors such as sex, age, occupation among the blood donors of the Ramadan province (west of IRAN) have been considered.
The total prevalance ofHBsAg & VDRL positive among 104236 blood donors was 2.96% and 0.17% respectively.
164 of HBsAg positive cases were studied from the point of HBeAg & HBeAb, 82.3 % were HBeAb positive , 11 % HBeAg positive & in 6.7% both factors were negative.
From 120 HBsAg cases who were studied for AST & ALT, 12.5% had abnormal ALT (more than triple much normal) & 15% had abnormal ALT (more than triple much normal).
From 259 HBsAg positive cases, 5% had abnormal total bilirubin & 3.5% abnormal direct bilirubin.
In HBsAg positive cases F/M ratio was 1.1 to 1 (P=0.02), the most prevalent age group (7.14%) was more than 60 yrs old (P=0.00), married to unmarried ratio was 1. 2 to 1 , (P = 0. 00). The most prevalent positive cases (3.52%) were among the farmers, (P=0.00) & the most positive cases (8.31 %) from the point of location were in Nahavand city, (P=0.00). The proportion of HBsAg +tive in different blood groups was as follows: 0 >A> AB> B (P=0.44) and Rh+> Rh -(P=0.00). The most prevalent positive cases (3.52%) were among the farmers, (P=0.00) & the most positive cases (8.31 % ) from the point of location were in Nahavand city, (P=0.00).
The proportion of HBsAg +tive in different blood groups was as follows: O >AB> B (P=0.44) and Rh+> Rh-(P=0.00).
0.45% of HBsAg positive cases were VDRL positive either.
In VDRL positive cases F/M ratio was 2.8 to 1 (P=0.00), the most prevalent age group (2%) was more than 60 yrs old (P=0.00), married to unmarried ratio 1.5 to 1.
The most prevalent (0.33%) were among housewifes, (P=0.00) & the most positive (0.44%) cases were in Nahavand city, (P=0.00). The proportion of VDRL positive in different blood groups as follows: B >A> AB (P=0.68) & Rh+> Rh-(P=0.05).
Through this study the importance of Hepatitis B prevention, control and treatment of the disease is better confirmed.
We advise the expansion of health education about roots of transmission of infection, immunization of children and high risk populations, to prevent from increase of infection am) mortal complications.

SUMMARY
A radiologically gasless abdomen in a neonate with EA is usually regarded as being pathognomonic of an absence of distal T.E.F. It has been estimated that up to 1.5% of patient with a distal fistula may have a radiologically gasless abdomens as a manifestation of a very small fistula plugged with mucus. In this case a contrast study via the gastrostomy demonstrated a fistula between the distal esophagus with trachea and stenotic area in esophagus. In this patient with congenital esophageal stenosis associated with esophageal atresia (EA), distal tracheoesophageal fistula in presented.
The diagnosis of C.E.S associated with EA begins with a high index of suspicion. It is important to verify patency of the distal esophagus at the time of primary anastomosis by passage of a tube to the stomach intraoperatively.
The site of stenosis often suggests of etiology. Etiology are classified as: 1) Tracheobroncheal rests most require resection, whereas fibromuscular stenosis and membranous diaphragms usually respond to dilatation alone, hence, are not examined histologically.
It is important to exclude anastomotic stricture and stenosis associated with gastroesophageal reflux. This requires barium esophagram, esophagoscopy with biopsy and pH monitoring. That patient is now 2 year old is asymptomatic with a normal esophagram and eating a normal diet.

Castleman's disease is a rare condition. In its classic form Castlema's is a solitary lesion, two third of patients have tumour like mass in the mediastinum. Extrathoracic sites also could be affected including those where lymph nodes normaly occur ancl rarely tissues where lymph nodes are not found. More recently there have been several reports of patients with multi centeric involvement. We present a case of retroperitoneal Castleman's disease in a 31 year old man with perforated peptic ulcer.
