SUMMARY
The aim of this survey is to measure the knowledge and behavior of married women who attended to the health centers in southern part of Tehran about the cancer of uterine cervix and Pap Smear test. The selection of region 11 from southern part of Tehran and 350 married women in this region based on random sampling technique.
The findings and results of this survey showed that: the majority of women (75. 71 percent) have a little information 18. 29 percent have intermediate and only 6 percent of them have a lot of information about the cancer of uterine cervix and Pap Smear test. Almost 72. 86 percent of all women this study have acquainted with the name of Pap Smear test and 53. 71 percent knew the reasons performance Pap Smear test also 69. 71 percent have performed the Pap Smear test and of women who have performed this test only 38. 93 percent have performed it regularly.
The most important reason for non- performance or irregular performance Pap Smear test by the women was lack of knowledge about this test.
The majority of women this study suggested that, the education about the cancer of uterine cervix and Pap Smear test is necessary for women.
