SUMMARY
In the present study nutritional status of 600 children of 553 women (who at least had one 0-36 months old child) attending the 5 health centers in Zabol city during September to October 1988 were assesse d acording to different nutritional classifications.
On the basis of Gomez (Expected Weight for age= EW/ age) and Waterlow (Heigh t for age=H/age and Expecte d Weight for Height =EW/H) classifications, 59.2, 47 and 28. 2 percent of children were malnurished respectively. The mean duration of breast feeding (BF) was 15 months. A significant correlation were found between the age of termination of BF and the nutritional status of children (EW/age, P=0. 008; and H/age, p<0.001 respectively), as with increasing the length of BF the more number of children became! Malnourished.
