SUMMARY
During 2 years, 212 patients with PID and 160 women with no sign of PIO (as control group) were selected for the detection of aerobic an<l anaerobic bacteria and possible cause of the disease.
Specimens from 58 patients and 60 controls were taken by laparoscopy and laparotomy, 154 patients and 100 controls by swabs from endocervical canal.
From laparoscopy and laparotomy group(58) 9
specimens were sterile and 3 were only anaerobes. 6 mixed aerobes and anaerobes and 40 specimenshad only aerobes bacteria.
It was interesting that from 18 specimens one isolated more than one bacteria, from 60 controls with similar specimens no bacteria were isolated.
From 154 patients (endocervical specimens) 12 specimens were strile, 13 of isolates were only anaerobes, 23 were mixed aerobes aml anaerobes and 106 were only aerobes bacteria. Also in this study we isolated 97(62 % ) mixed bacteria.
