SUMMARY
Otitis media with effusion is disease of children that accumulate steril fluid in the middle ear. Chronic form of disease called when the fluid remained for 12 weeks in the middle ear, that is, important cause of mild hearing loss in the school age and behavior disorder and difficult in the learning.
In this study 71 patients that admitted and treated with surgical (Adenoidectomy and I or Tonsillectomy with ventilation tube insertion) in the E.N. T ward of Loghman-e-Hakim Hospital with prospective method on 15 months statistically were investigated. (21th March 1992-2lth June 1993).
75.4% of all were with O.M.E and 24.6% were not O.M.E maximum incidence is in age 6-8 years old, average of age is 6.5 years. Boys shown disease more than girls, that statistically no significant.
Type B tympanogram confirmed O.M.E in 80% of cases, 37% of patients that have type C had not OME when 63% of them have O.M.E.
