The anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system of the extremities is reviewed, with special refe;ence to increasing knowledge from lymphan­giography. 
The surgical treatment of primary lymphoedema of the extremities by transposition of superficial lym­phatics into the deep compartment of the limb em­ploying a buried "Shaved" skin flap "Thompson" operaion was ,used in 2 cases with excellent results. 
The treatment of lymphoedematous limb with this method has the advantages of shorter hospitali­sation and a more pleasing immediate appearance rith more normal configuration of the extremity.
