the most common causes of obstetric deaths are: 
1- Haemorrhage
2- Infection
3- Anaesthesia
4-Toxaemia
5-The supine hypotensive syndrome
6- Aspiration of Stomach contents in to the lungs.
so it is clear that anaesthesia for obstetric patients should be performed by experienced and skilled anaesthesists. It is suggested that the employment of oral antacid in all obstet­ric patients prior to general anaesthesia would reduce the attendant risks .
